Does Cube Cabins charge for delivery?
Yes. The delivery fee varies with your location and how complex it is to position the cabin. In Canterbury the typical one-off charge is around $600. It covers transport to your site, positioning, levelling, and removal of the cabin when you no longer need it.
Which areas do you service?
We are based in Christchurch and deliver throughout Canterbury. Contact us for a personalised quote and a free onsite inspection.
How do I provide power to the cabin?
Every cabin comes with a 15m caravan-style extension lead with RCD protection. Plug it into any standard NZ 3-pin 10-amp socket. If you need a longer lead, we can supply one on request.
Are your cabins insulated and double-glazed?
Yes. All of our cabins are fully insulated and double-glazed, built by a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP), and comply with current building codes.
What if the access is narrow?
In most cases we can use a Hiab crane to position the cabin, and we have placed cabins in some tight spaces.
What colours do your cabins come in?
We offer a selection of white and black-clad cabins.
Is a bond required?
No bond is required. We ask for one week's rent in advance, and for the delivery fee to be paid before the cabin is placed.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Our standard rental period is six months. We can sometimes accommodate three-month agreements on request, and special terms and rates may apply.
What flooring options are available?
Cabins are available with either carpet or vinyl plank flooring.
Do I need council consent?
Cabins under 30sqm don't typically need building consent, but they must meet the New Zealand Building Code and be placed correctly. Since October 2025, cabins under 10sqm (internal) can be placed with no boundary setback, subject to conditions such as recession planes and neighbouring windows. Over 10sqm, a one metre setback applies. Council rules vary, so check with your local council. We help with this for your site.
Can the cabin be moved to another site later?
Yes. We can relocate the cabin for an additional delivery fee.

Should I rent or buy?
It depends how long you need it. See the rent vs buy comparison.
Can I get a heat pump or air con in the cabin?
Yes, on request. A heat pump gives you heating in winter and air conditioning in summer. It is quoted per job. As a guide, a recent installation was an extra $10 a week on a 12-month hire commitment.
